The Redwood Wedding’s last-minute wedding videography Hail Mary + my wedding vows

I woke up one morning, days before the wedding, and realized I hadn’t thought about videography. We had so many talented friends and family performing speeches and readings, and I knew that I would be so hyped up that day that I was sure to forget all the amazing things that were said and shared that day.

So I quickly googled a butt-ton of Northern California wedding videographers, but years of working in the wedding industry, and seeing one cheesy wedding video after another, has made me a hardened and picky bitch. No one was really fitting the bill (even the Desperate Megan version of the bill). Except for some guy named Tim from Share the Road Videography. His style was all about mood, vibe, and those beautiful details and minutiae that a couple can completely miss in the frantic energy of their wedding day, along with some crisp AF audio.

I wrote him an email entitled “last-minute wedding videography Hail Mary?” And, as surprising as it was fortunate, he was available that day, and totally down to party at The Redwood Wedding. And this is the 3 minute version of all his hard work…

As I watched it (over and over and over) tears were just streaming down my face, and I had a smile as big as the one you see on that video. He absolutely nailed it, and I’m so glad he highlighted the vows, as they were my favorite part of the day (and he even captured the AT-AT and the funky chicken on the side of the food truck that I love so much too!).

Anyway, if you’re interested, here were my vows in their entirety…

In a time where I thought I was losing everything, somehow my best friend and my favorite TV show combined forces to help me find you. And then you helped me find all of this…

From the moment I met you, I felt lucky. Our near constant texting gave me hope and something to look forward to every day. And, honestly, if that was all you did for me back then, that would have been more than enough. But, despite your best efforts, you stuck around… you kept changing my life for the better…

You immediately broadened my culinary horizons, of course. I went from a girl who never even ate chicken, to discovering that chicken is one thing that makes waffles — the world’s most perfect food — even MORE perfect. (I know what you’re thinking right now: I’m still not eating pig.)

You shared your words with me through the sweetest messages, and cards, and even the World’s Greatest Softcore Script that made me laugh so hard that literally I fell in love with you.

You challenged me, and taught me that I could do and feel things I never imagined this emotionally stunted half-Vulcan was capable of doing or (especially) feeling. And that was all within the first three months of knowing you!

Since then you’ve continually pushed me to be a better person. (Because “sometimes you need a push.”) And you do it without even trying — just by being your incredible self…

You are the most beautiful person, both inside and out. And I’m reminded of that every time I see your Cheshire Cat smile, or just hear it in your voice. You’re the kindest most supportive person I’ve ever known — you’d go to bat for anyone on your team, even if you know you’re going to strike out. You’re ridiculously charming, even when I’m upset. Somehow maybe even especially when I’m upset. You’re also devilishly clever. Which is probably why you make me laugh so hard all the time — even when I’m trying to sleep. Maybe even especially when I’m trying to sleep. And you’re a wonderful storyteller. I never get tired of hearing your stories… no matter how many times you re-tell them. And you’re almost alarmingly unflappable — like many people here today, I’ve never seen you get angry. Now that I know that you inherited that trait from your dad, and it’s not a personality disorder, I think it’s awesome. Because, for the first time in my life, I’m not afraid to be completely honest with my partner. You are also the most comfortable person in the whole world. You’re life a fractal of cuddliness.

You’re all of that AND you can juggle.

I don’t know where I’d be right now if I hadn’t met you that day. And I’ve been thankful every day since that I’ll never have to know anything but this awesome life with you.

Speaking of our awesome life… over the next… forever, you and I will grow and change so much together. I don’t know what our future holds, but I know that these are the things that I want for us always:

I want to always try to walk at least 10,000 steps together.

I want to always be your buddy light anytime you need it, and to share anything that’s on my plate with you.

I want to cuddle with you every night, and as much as possible during the day too.

And I want to always be your partner, your plus 1, you seat mate, your co-pilot, your adventure buddy, and your breakfast, lunch and dinner date.

Although, no matter how much we change, I know that one thing will always stay the same: I promise that I will love you vastly and openly, and stay by your side as your wife, for as long as you’ll have me.

Because you are my greatest love, my best fucking friend, my absolute favorite, the chicken to my waffle… From this day until forever.

I love you

If you read that whole thing, you’re a huge dork and I love you for it. 🙂

    Sigh… so perfect.
Still waiting for the series to premiere this fall…
Seriously though, Steven Moffat wrote the BBC series “Coupling” based on the time in his life when he met his wife. Why not “M&M”?
