Rings and hairs: switching up styles

I change my wedding rings like I change my hairstyles — OFTEN. This week I changed both! Wanna see ’em?

Here’s what my ring used to look like:

All vintage and pretty and EXACTLY what I wanted when I found it. But over the years I stopped wearing the engagement ring and instead wore various wedding bands and rings that I had accumulated (original engagement ring, my wedding band, and a ring I got for doing an Offbeat Bride ad) but NEVER the pretty vintage engagement ring. I just noticed that my tastes had changed and I was drooling over more modern styles. So I decided to change it up!

Here’s how the ring looks now:

Updated e-ring porn! Used to be a vintage setting, now it's more space-y
I love it! It goes with all my wedding bands and various rings, to the point where I’m switching up which rings I wear every day now. Oh, and did I mention it cost me NADA!? I traded my old ring to have this custom made, and that was that. FUN!

Speaking of fun. Let’s talk about my hair.

Hair before
Since I had to save up a butt ton of money to pay my taxes in April, I cut “getting my hair did” as one of my expenses. So my hair went from mostly brown with sad faded pink…

Hair after
To more blonde and more pink all over! Yay. I feel better about my dumb head now.

Okay, that’s enough of my self-absorbed braggy time.

Ohh, the new ring is lovely! I love the setting that the solitaire is in, absolutely gorgeous. And you and your hair look fantastic as always 🙂

    • Oh I WISH my hair always looked fantastic. 😉 That’s definitely a life’s goal. But THANK YOU DAHLING.

No, let’s talk about blinged-out glasses! Where did you get the awesome shades? Are you tight with Elton?

    • HA! Actually, Elton John *is* my favorite performing artist of ALL TIME. So yeah, they were totally a nod to him. My secret to badass sunglasses: raid the drawer of rejects at your optometrist’s office. There’s always a drawer or cheaper (older!) sunglasses. These were a steal because they were left over from the ’80s. The lady was SHOCKED that I wanted them.

  3. Traded it to where?! How do you do that?

    • Ah, it helps when you have a family jeweler. 😉 My family and I have been getting and commissioning our jewelry from this guy in Downton LA since I was a baby. I got my engagement ring from him just by trading in a bunch of jewelry I never wore! So he wasn’t surprised when I came in and wanted to trade that ring for something else. 😉

  4. love love love BEZEL sets!
