One year.

Hold on to your barf bags, y’all, you’re about to get a dose of sugary sweet cheese…

On our 6 month anniversary, Mike and I reenacted the night we met, complete with wine, Rice Krispie Treats, and dubious looks.

One year ago I met the love of my life!

One year ago I decided to go watch Game of Thrones at this guy Dave’s house to see my friend Ken’s podcast. One year ago, Mike decided to go watch Game of Thrones at his friend Dave’s house to see this guy Ken’s podcast.

One year ago my entire life would change because one random stranger walked through a door and into my life.

One year ago, our timelines finally crossed. And NOTHING has been the same since…

I’ve fallen so deeply in to a kind of love that I didn’t know I was capable of. I’ve travelled to places I never thought I’d see, and seen the same places again, but in a totally new light. I’ve eaten more amazing meals than I thought one human being could ever eat in a lifetime. I’ve met and been accepted into a wonderful new family. I moved my life and my cat into a home of my dreams. And every day I wake up feeling like a god-damned Disney princess — like birds and woodland creatures should be helping me get dressed in the morning!

“Sometimes, you go to a #gameofthrones podcast, and a year later, you’re having an anniversary dinner with your amazing girlfriend in Vancouver.”

Last night we went out to a really nice dinner for our anniversary. Or, as Mike called it, “our relationship’s birthday.” But I have to say, almost every dinner we have feels as special as an anniversary dinner. (I warned you to have your barf bags at the ready!)

Our even bigger celebration will happen this weekend, when Mike gets a whole chunk of time off from producing Prison Break. We’re going to an ever-more-special-er dinner on a tiny island off the Washington coast. (Oh, pray the border patrol is nice to us this time.)

Last night, as I fell asleep, all wrapped up in Mike’s arms, I once again thanked The Old Gods and The New that a year ago I was lucky enough to meet this man. That he was clever enough to make me laugh. That we were both brave enough to keep seeing each other, even when it didn’t feel like the perfect timing. Because, of course nothing is ever perfect, but this is pretty damn close. 😉

What a difference a year makes.

How prophetic was THIS comment!??? That’s the plan now. 🙂

  5. Congrats on your happy, thrilling full of fun things relationship, it is so hard to describe finding the one but it is awesome when you do.
And I love “our relationship’s birthday”
My husband and I have been together for 10 years and married for 5, it hardly seems right not to acknowledge the first 5 years just because we weren’t married.

That has seriously always vexed me. Those years count too, yo! They’re some of the most important ones too!!
