It’s fitting that on Friday the 13th I should wake up to, as Mike called it this morning, the first day of the rest of my life. It was my very own Freaky Friday…
I officially have no job
I had my last day at work for The Offbeat Empire yesterday — final posts were written by me, and sweet words were written by Ariel. Accounts were switched over, and Slack channels turned off, and a sense of emptiness has been turned on. Now, I’ve already gotten feelsy about it all on this post, so I’m not gonna make myself cry again today.
And a new name
But I did use my extra free time to go to the Social Security Office and have it changed. I’m now legally Megan Finley Horowitz… the unemployed girl. Well, I guess I could say that I’m still “self-employed” as I’ve given myself a new job…
And a new website
About a week before my two weeks was up I found myself wandering back and forth in the Atlanta airport alongside my husband Mike (we were trying to get in as many Fitbit steps as we could before takeoff). We’d just had a disappointing airport breakfast where we discussed awesome honeymoon possibilities. Which lead me to start wondering… “what the hell am I going to do with my life next?”
And then, as I was Googling honeymoon tips for Copenhagen, and finding unhelpful travel and lifestyle blog post after unhelpful travel and lifestyle blog post, it hit me…
I could combine our passions for traveling, food, and traveling for food to create an actually helpful travel and lifestyle blog!
You can read the rest over here.
In short, I’m going to be migrating all the travel stuff from Funk and the food stuff from Treats and merging into one place where we can use our travel and restaurant knowledge to help others, and hopefully make a little money too! And I’m super-excited about it.
